In preparation for the cellular carriers’ 5G network changes, all major carriers have scheduled the phase-out of their 3G networks to be complete in early 2022. This phase-out is for the networks that carry voice traffic.

What to Know
For more than a year all cellular products manufactured by Security Brands have been equipped with a cellular modem that will not be impacted by this change.
Security Brands will provide a free upgrade for any cellular unit that was purchased after 7/1/2019 that has not already been upgraded. Proof of purchase or installation date is required.
If the cellular unit was purchased after 7/1/2019:
- Call Security Brands to determine if the unit needs an upgrade and to receive a tracking form and shipping label.
- Uninstall the full unit or just the faceplate.
- Include the tracking form with the full unit or faceplate and attach the shipping label to the box. Make sure the tracking form is shipped with the unit!

Security Brands will direct end users to contact their installer to assist with the uninstall/reinstall process. However, we have also provided videos instructing end users how to disconnect and reconnect their unit(s).
Units not eligible for free upgrades can be upgraded through our existing upgrade program by purchasing an upgrade kit through a distributor.
No action is currently required on your part. Security Brands will notify end users over the coming weeks.
